Update

Sorry that we left you all hanging after Mike's visits with Ana. We have been dealing with sick kids and trying to get documentation done for Ana's adoption. Mike arrived home February 4th. We have been working hard to get our second stage paperwork completed. Our final documents are in the mail on their way to be apostilled and then will be on their way to Ana's country. It is a relief to have those done!

So now...we wait! There is a series of steps that need to happen in Ana's country, including the court hearing in which our attorney will represent us, before the adoption will be finalized. We will most likely bring Ana home sometime this summer. Her birthday is July 6th and we would really like to have her home before her 5th birthday, if not MUCH SOONER!!!!!!

It is getting very hard to wait! The further we are into this adoption the more that Ana is growing on our hearts. We long to hold her, kiss her sweet cheeks, and tell her all about Jesus and His great love for her. Although Ana is five, because she has grown up in an orphanage and has had so few experiences, there are so many "firsts" that we are looking forward to experiencing with her--her first birthday party, her first bath in a bathtub, her first storybook and her first lullabies, her first independent steps across the room, her first campfire and zoo trip...oh, so many firsts! We can hardly wait!!!! Thank you God, for growing this precious little girl on our hearts! And thank you for loving us and teaching us so much about YOU through this experience! Amen.

Final Day

Today was a great day of visits as they all have been. She is such a wonderful girl! I cannot wait to bring her home to become part of our family! I will miss her until that day comes. Please continue to pray that the process goes smoothly as things are finalized here. Pray, too, as we complete the final documents in the United States to bring her home. Tomorrow morning I will visit Ana for a brief time before leaving for a meeting to complete some required paperwork. Then it will be time to make the return trip home. I will be home soon, family...I love you.

Blessings,

Mike

Day Three

This was another amazing day with Ana! What a wonderful child that God has made! I have the privilege of visiting Ana two times each day. Each time I spend time with her I feel more connected. God is so good! It is incredible to see God at work making families. After the morning visit, I went back to my hotel room to spend time praying and reading the Bible. As I was reading, the Lord brought two different verses to me. I would like to share those with you.

The first is Psalm 100:5 and it says,

"For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations."

Ana's middle name is Faith. God has been teaching our family so much about faith and trusting Him in and through this entire process, from the beginning until now. God's faithfulness toward us as people does not end. And God is so good. We will continue placing our faith and trust in Him alone as we continue and bring Ana home to join our family...the family God has chosen for her.

The second verse from the Bible is James 1:17 which says,

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

Ana is such a blessing to us...a gift from God. God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He wants us all to trust Him and follow Him where He leads. It is so humbling for me to be able to follow God, obey Him, and trust Him with all that I am.

The second visit that I had, during the afternoon, was even better than the first. God is truly blessing this time I have had to spend with her. Here are some pictures and a couple video clips from today. I hope and pray you can see God working through this adoption process. Trust Him and place your faith in Him and He will guide you where He wants you to be. There is no better place than where God wants us to be. Enjoy the pics and clips!

Blessings,

Mike
