Still Pluggin' Away

We still have lots to do before our home study visit on June 8th, but we are slowly getting things checked off of our list. We finished our last class tonight! Yippee!!!! And we can actually walk through our basement without tripping over things--amazing (all of the credit goes to Mike on that one)! We would appreciate your continued prayers throughout this process. We are contantly reminding ourselves to go to God's word and to trust Him because this process seems so scary and overwhelming at times. We are so grateful that we have such a mighty God to serve. We have watched Him bless this adoption in so many ways already and we know that He is faithful! We're just trying to rest in His peace!

As soon as our homestudy is completed we are going to have to work like crazy to raise money for the rest of the adoption. So, if you have any fundraising ideas, we would love to hear them!

Thanks everyone!

Getting Ready

We spent much of the weekend getting our house ready for our homestudy visit. Thank you so much to everyone who helped!!!! Our social worker will be coming June 8th to complete our interviews and to do a safety audit of our house. We hope to have most of our paperwork done by then, so that after she comes our homestudy will be almost complete. We would really appreciate your prayers that our homestudy would be approved! Thanks everyone! We hope that you have a blessed day!

About Daisey

We do not have a lot of information on Daisey, and there is some info that we know that we are not permitted to post in order to protect her identity. However, we can tell you that Daisey's birthday is July 6, 2007, so she will be turning 4 years old this July. She is currently living in an orphanage in Eastern Europe. She has Down Syndrome. In many countries in Eastern Europe, children with disabilities living in orphanages are sent to adult institutions at the age of 4 years old. In Daisey's country they can be sent anywhere between the ages of 3 and 7. Although most of the orphanages in her country keep the children until they are 6 or 7, there is no guarantee that she will not be sent to an adult institution before we are able to bring her home. Please pray that this does not happen! As you can imagine, the adult institutions are no place for a child!
Daisey is not her real name. Daisey is the name that Reece's Rainbow gave her to protect her identity. We do know her real name and will be keeping it, as that is the only name she has known. I'm sure we will be able to share her name with you and her country after the adoption is finalized.
Just talking about her is amazing!!!!! We can't wait to bring her home!!!! We are in love with her already, and we haven't even met her yet!

Sponsoring Our Family

We have had some people ask about how to sponsor us. We are in the process of setting up a button on this blog, but in the mean time, if you are interested in sponsoring us you can go to

As you know, international adoptions are very costly. This was one of our greatest fears in beginning this adoption. However, we are confident that God has called us to this and we know that He will be faithful to provide.

Our understanding is that all donations towards our adoption that go through Reece's Rainbow are tax deductible.

We will not know who sponsors us. However, if you are one of our sponsors, thank you for helping us to fulfill one of God's callings for us---to bring Daisey home.

Mike and Gail
Our purpose for this blog is to keep all of our friends, family and sponsors updated as we progress through Daisey's adoption. Thank you so much to those of you who have consistently prayed for us and have provided so much encouragement and support as we have begun this journey. We chose the title "In Awe of God's Faithfulness" for this blog because that is exactly how we feel. God has been so faithful to us throughout our lives and we are continuing to see His faithfulness to provide as we pursue this adoption to which He has so clearly called us. One example of this is that we just received our child abuse clearances in the mail on Friday. These clearances often hold up the completion of the home study as it has taken several months for some adopting families to get them back. Ours were processed and returned to us within two weeks! All the glory be to God!

We are currently in the process of completing our home study and will keep you updated as we go.

As we're sure most of you can tell, we are new to blogging, so please bear with us as we get a handle on this "blogging thing."
